Lattafa Khamrah review (UK)

Khamrah is the Lattafa bottle most people have heard of. It is an Eau de Parfum, it comes in 100ml, and it has a reputation for being sweet, spiced and noticeable. This review goes through what is in it, how it develops, and what to expect. We also say who should not buy it.

One note on honesty: this review is based on the notes and mood on our product page and on how this style of fragrance normally behaves. We have not run controlled wear tests, so we do not quote hour counts. When we have, this page will say so.

The notes

StageNotes
TopCinnamon, nutmeg, bergamot
HeartDates, praline, tuberose
BaseVanilla, tonka bean, benzoin, myrrh

Family: Gourmand. Our one-line description: a spiced, sticky date.

What it smells like, stage by stage

First minutes. Cinnamon and nutmeg come first, with a little bergamot to stop it opening too heavy. This is the spiciest part. It is warm rather than sharp, and for most people it is the bit that gets a reaction.

The middle. Dates and praline take over. This is where the sweetness arrives: sticky, nutty, a bit like something baked. Tuberose sits in the background and rounds it out with a creamy floral edge. If you have ever smelled cardamom coffee with dates on a low table after dinner, that is the mood we describe on the product page.

The dry-down. Vanilla and tonka bean settle in with benzoin and myrrh. Benzoin is a resin with a sweet, balsamic warmth; myrrh adds a faintly smoky, resinous edge that keeps the vanilla from going flat. By now the spice has softened and what is left is warm, sweet and slow.

Longevity and sillage

Khamrah is an Eau de Parfum, so you can reasonably expect it to last through an evening and to be noticed by people near you. That is as far as we will go without our own tests. Real wear time depends on your skin, the weather and how many sprays you use. Dry skin tends to lose fragrance faster; moisturising first helps.

On projection: this style of scent, sweet and dense, tends to carry. Two or three sprays is a sensible start. Four or five in a small room is a lot.

When to wear it

  • Autumn and winter, when warm scents sit well in cold air.
  • Evenings, dinners, and nights out.
  • As a comfort scent on a quiet weekend.

Less ideal: a hot day, a packed commute in summer, or an office where people are sensitive to fragrance. Sweet and spiced scents feel heavier in heat.

Who it suits

Anyone who likes dessert-style, warm fragrances. The notes do not lean male or female; it is worn by both. If you enjoy vanilla, cinnamon, baked or caramel-type scents, you are the target buyer. If sweet and spicy is what you are after, this is a sensible place to start.

Who should skip it

  • If you like fresh, clean, citrus or aquatic scents. Khamrah is the opposite. Look at the fresh families in the finder instead.
  • If you dislike sweet scents. There is a lot of sugar here. Asad is drier and peppered, and may suit you better.
  • If you need something very quiet for work. It can be loud for a small office.
  • If you are sensitive to cinnamon or heavy vanilla. Try it on skin in a shop first if you can.

Layering

Asad over Khamrah adds pepper and tobacco and cuts some of the sweetness. Yara underneath softens it into something creamier. Keep layers to one spray each until you know how they sit.

Price

Khamrah is in the affordable range for a 100ml Eau de Parfum, well under £40 here. Delivery is included in the price shown, so there is no extra at checkout.

Verdict

A warm, sweet, spiced fragrance that does what its notes promise. Buy it if you like gourmand scents and want something to wear when the weather turns. Skip it if you prefer fresh. Start with fewer sprays than you think.
